Editing your lens

Access the Lens configuration by going to Profile > Manage lenses and then "Configure Lens" under the correct lens.

Datasets, free texts and weighting

You can

• Add and remove datasets in the lens's analysis
• Add and remove free texts from datasets in the lenses analysis
• Change the weighting of the datasets in your lens

Dates

This allows your lens to use a single date for each dataset to be used for trending/score change in the analysis tools. You can also choose a default date resolution to be shown that's most relevant for your data (Can be changed in the analysis tools as needed)

If your datasets have multiple dates, you can pick which is used. You can add multiple dates if that's applicable for views. (Eg one view will use response date, another will use flight date)

Filters

You can view all the filters you've created, sorted into shared (multiple datasets have data for a filter) and individual (a filter only applies to one dataset). You can re-order, edit and delete any of your filters

When adding a new filter or editing one, you need to select the type of filter

• Basic filter - For a majority of data
• Number filter - For numeric data that should be grouped
• Date filter - For dates
• Free Text filter - For data with many options, or unique IDs

Then you can select the column from each dataset that should be used when applying this filter. A filter could apply across all the lens's datasets, or just one. A filter's name is how it appears everywhere in the portal.

There's extra optional customisation you can add depending on the filter option

Basic filter extra options

• "All" Filter Option - Useful for filters where you want to select all except a few options
• Sort Order - Improves usability
• Case Handling - Important if your data has different cases eg "USA" and "usa"
• Ignore Values - Important to remove unneeded options from the filter
• Value Mapping - Useful to update older names

Rather than showing all numbers individually, the filter can group numbers for you

Date filter extra options

For a date filter you can pick the default time period used

Scores

For each score in the lens you'll need to decide

• Score range: the total score range the lens will use, e.g. 1-5 or 0-100
• Score per dataset: Which numeric score if applicable for each dataset to use
  • Score column: Which score column in case a dataset has several
  • Score Calculation Method: How the score is calculated individually, before it contributes to the total score
• Score name: Used everywhere in the portal

Views

Views let different teams have their own tailored version of the same lens data and themes. Every lens starts with a default view that has the same name and configuration as the lens, and a lens always has at least one view.

Sources, filters, scores and dates are all set up at the lens level (see the sections above). A view chooses which of those to show; it can't create new ones. If you want a different score or filter in a view, add it to the lens configuration first, then select it in the view.

Creating a view

1. In Manage lens, select Views from the left-hand menu, then click Add View.
2. Enter a View Name. This is the name that appears in the Analysis drop-down menu, so make it clear who the view is for, e.g. "Marketing View".
3. Adjust any of the settings below. Each one shows its current value, and by default a view shows everything:
   • Sources — which of the lens's datasets the view includes. Default: all sources.
   • Limit Data — always-on filters that restrict the data in the view. People using the view can't remove them. Default: no limits applied. If you add a limit, set it for every dataset you want restricted; any dataset left without one shows all of its data.
   • Filter Settings — which of the lens's filters are visible. Default: all visible.
   • Score Settings — which of the lens's scores are visible. Default: all visible.
   • Date Settings — which of the lens's dates the view uses for trends and score change, e.g. one view on response date and another on flight date.
4. Click Create View. The view is available straight away with no processing time, and has its own URL you can share.

Finding views in the analysis tools

If a lens has only one view, it appears in the analysis drop-down on its own, like a dataset. If a lens has two or more views, the lens name appears in the drop-down, and clicking it shows the views in a flyout menu.

Theme editing

You can edit your lens themes in the themes editor like your datasets. Use the "Manage themes" option, or navigate there in the themes editor.

The functionality is the same except the filters will now include options per dataset or free text, as well as the lens filters which support shared filters, or filters unique to one or more datasets.
