Workflows
Workflows within Thematic are a series of automated emails triggered by specific actions or conditions, and can be custom set up for individual users.
To set up a new workflow simply select Manage workflows from the dropdown menu and select + Create Workflow

Thematic has three workflows in which emails are sent automatically based on pre-defined rules and triggers.
Spike Detection
Get alerted about themes that have changed from their historical average. A significant change is two standard deviations above or below the recent average.
First select 'Spike Detection' option
- Create a title for the workflow
- Select either volume or sentiment spikes
- If you are an admin select Dataset Administration
- Select the dataset to monitor
You can also select a filter option for the selected dataset E.G. Theme volume spikes for anyone who is a detractor (<7) score. Or, theme volume spikes by location.
Select schedule of emails, either daily, weekly or monthly
Select channel, either email or slack notification.
Add your email or any other individual email then click 'Save workflow'
Your workflow will then be displayed under the 'Manage workflows' page where you can toggle active/non active, view history, edit, or delete the workflow.
Comment Matching
Get alerted about new comments that match selected filters and conditions. You can also attach a csv file to the email which includes customizable metadata.
First select 'Comment Matching' option
- Create a title for the workflow
- If you are an admin select Dataset Administration
- Select dataset to monitor
- Select a matching filter E.G. this could include comments by Promotors (>8) score, or a response contains filter of a particular keyword of interest.
- After selecting your dataset and filters, click on See comments to view a list of comments that will trigger the workflow
- Under Action, select either email or slack as the notification channel
- Add your email or any other individual email. You can add a subject line and create your own custom written sentence or text depending on who will receive the notification.
- Select the toggle to include a csv export that can also be sent to the recipient.
Here you can delete or add your own customizable metadata columns to be included with a list of comments.
Once done, click on 'Save workflow' to finish set up.
Your workflow will then be displayed under the 'Manage workflows' page where you can toggle active/non active, view history, edit, or delete the workflow.
Theme discovery
Get alerted about potential new themes in new data
First select 'Theme Discovery' option
- Create a title for the workflow
- If you are an admin select Dataset Administration
- Select dataset to monitor
- Select frequency of discovery of themes, either weekly or monthly.
- Select notification channel, either email or slack, then add user email.
Once done, click on 'Save workflow' to finish set up.
Your workflow will then be displayed under the 'Manage workflows' page where you can toggle active/non active, view history, edit, or delete the workflow.
